Zombie Drama ‘Walking Dead’ Proves It’s Alive, Bringing AMC its Biggest-Ever Debut Audience

The zombie drama "The Walking Dead" brought AMC its best original-series debut numbers ever, with an average of 5.3 million viewers during its Halloween night premiere, reports TheWrap.com’s The Box blog.

By comparison, the network’s "Mad Men" had an audience for its fourth season debut of 2.9 million viewers in August, the story notes.

But where the show’s ratings really came alive was with 18- to 49-year-olds, as 3.6 million in the demographic tuned in, making "The Walking Dead" the best series premiere with the target demographic for all of cable this year, the article notes.

The question, however, may be whether the program can maintain its audience now that Halloween is over, the story says.
