NBC Buys New Comedy From Steve Carell, Who Will Write Show as Well. Separately, Carell and David Steinberg Developing Another Project for TV

NBC "has bought a half-hour, single-camera project from the actor-comedian [Steve Carell] based on his early days working as a mail carrier in Littleton, Massachusetts," reports Michael Ausiello at Deadline.com.

Separately, Nellie Andreeva, also at Deadline.com, reports that Carell and David Steinberg–the once popular stand-up comic who’s now a director–are working on a documentary about "the evolution of comedy over the past sixty years through the eyes of several generations of comedians." They hope to place this documentary on TV, the article says.

The Ausiello piece about the sitcom says that it’s "titled ‘The Post-Graduate Project.’ It is described as a sweet and nostalgic take on the period of Carell’s early life as a mail carrier and centers on a small-town post office frequented by a quirky but tight-knit group of local twentysomethings."

The single-camera comedy will be executive produced by Carell and Thom Hinkle ("The Daily Show with Jon Stewart"), the article says.
