Production on CBS’ "NCIS" was suspended after a guard was struck and killed by an out-of-control van during filming on Wednesday, reports TheWrap.com’s TheBox blog.

The van’s 60-year old driver suffered a medical condition and struck the guard, who was 52 and died after being taken to a hospital from the scene in Santa Clarita, California, the story says.

"Everyone at the network, the studio and NCIS is devastated by the news," CBS and CBS Television Studios said in a statement. "Our hearts grieve for his family and friends for this tragic loss. We are, of course, cooperating with the local authorities in Santa Clarita to help determine what caused this terrible accident."
