Fox thinks it has a good shot at getting Zooey Deschanel to star in a comedy pilot formerly called "Chicks and Dicks" and which is now untitled, writes Kim Masters at The Hollywood Reporter.
Masters also writes "Don Johnson is one candidate to star as a lothario hairdresser in the Michael Patrick King drama ‘Mann’s World’ at NBC, and Ellen Barkin is also a possibility for that show.
ABC is pursuing Tim Allen to make a return to TV in the sitcom ‘Last Days of Man’ (though he’s not making it easy).
Others being wooed to star in pilots, according to the article, include Ryan Philippe, Bill Paxson (his "Big Love" is ending), Jill Scott, Kerry Washington, Rob Riggle, Minnie Driver, Maria Bello, and Amanda Peet.
The article adds, "The season’s most in-demand actress might be Christina Applegate, who has already passed on the ABC’s ‘Other People’s Kids’ and is now considering the network’s ‘Good Christian Bitches.’ "
Is it really worth it to pay Don Johnson a premium to be on your show? I won’t watch anything he’s in. And I don’t know why a studio would want him on their show considering he just sued Rysher over Nash Bridges.
