Discovery Channel’s decision to revive "American Chopper" and recast it as a show about a feud between a father and son has helped the show’s ratings, reports the New York Times.

The new version of the series, subtitled "Senior vs. Junior," drew 3.16 million viewers last week, marking the show’s highest rated episode since 2004, the story notes. The finale of the season will be aired tonight, Monday , Feb. 7, 2011..

While the father and son, both named Paul Teutul, refuse to let crew members switch back and forth between their competing motorcycle shops, both have an interest in keeping the TV show going, the story notes. That means that the show has had to essentially record two separate shows, the story says.
