With "NCIS" star Mark Harmon signing a new two-year contract to continue on the program, CBS has renewed the show for its ninth season, reports Deadline.com.

According to the story, Harmon’s deal will give him more than $500,000 per episode, about what William Petersen was paid at the same point of the forensic drama "CSI."

Like Petersen, Harmon is also being bumped up to executive producer from producer on the show’s next season, the story notes.

Harmon has also signed a production deal with CBS TV Studios, with his company Wings Prods. moving to the CBS lot, the article adds.

Ratings for "NCIS" have been steadily climbing, with the show becoming TV’s most-watched scripted program last season and continuing as the top scripted show this season, the story says.
