In what could mark her first regular television series role if the show gets picked up, film star Anjelica Huston is joining NBC’s drama pilot "Smash," reports Deadline.com.

Huston will play a shrewd and cynical New York theater producer in the project about a group of people trying to put on a Broadway show about Marilyn Monroe, the story notes. She’ll co-star opposite Debra Messing and Christian Borle in the project.

The story notes that Huston recently had a recurring role on the NBC/CBS drama "Medium."
