The animated series "Futurama," once canceled by Fox, is proving to be a durable show on Comedy Central. The series is close to getting a renewal for two additional seasons from the cable channel, reports TVGuide.com.

The network will renew the show for two seasons of 13 episodes each, which doesn’t include the remaining episodes of season six that will air beginning June 23, the story says.

The show first aired on Fox, which canceled it in 2003, with Comedy Central reviving the program in 2008. Its most recent season debuted with 2.9 million viewers, the story notes.
