Evan Rachel Wood admitted in a recent interview with xfinityTV.com that she was nervous about doing a full-frontal nude scene for the HBO miniseries “Mildred Pierce,” saying it almost caused her to back out of the project.
“I was a lot more nervous than I thought I was going to be,” Wood said of the scene, part of a project that had her working opposite Kate Winslet and also had her working with piano and dialect coaches.
According to Wood it was Winslet who helped her muster up the courage to do the scene.
“I looked at Kate and she was like, ‘You’ve got to do it. Trust me, it’s so brave,’” Wood said.
“Kate helped me. She gave me strength. She kind of dared me. I also felt I had to prove it to myself. I had to do it at least once–get it all on film now so when I’m 80 I can look back at it and say, ‘Yeah! I did that!’”
The scene appears in the fifth and final installment of “Mildred Pierce” on HBO.
