Helped by the third season of "Jersey Shore," MTV is ending the first quarter of 2011 with its best ratings in five years, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Company Town blog.
The network’s young viewers jumped 27% compared with the first quarter of 2010, the story notes. "Jersey Shore’s” third season ranks as MTV’s highest-rated show ever, increasing 35% over its second season and averaging 7.9 million total viewers per episode, according to the report.
The network was also helped by "Teen Mom 2," which became cable TV’s No. 2 original show with an average of 3.8 million viewers per episode, the story adds.
