Winslet-Led HBO Mini Bows to Disappointing Numbers

Just 1.3 million total viewers tuned in for Sunday’s debut of HBO’s "Mildred Pierce," which stars Oscar winner Kate Winslet as a Depression-era housewife, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker blog.

That figure is at the low end for an HBO miniseries. In contrast, "John Adams" drew 2.5 million viewers to its debut in 2008, the story notes.

"Mildred Pierce" performed about the same as "Generation Kill," a 2008 miniseries that didn’t feature any well-known stars, the story says.

Reviews have generally been good for “Mildred Pierce.”
