Veteran Soap Star James Pritchett Dead at 88

James Pritchett, a veteran soap opera actor who played Dr. Matt Powers on NBC’s “The Doctors” for almost 20 years, has died, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He died March 15 at his New York home at age 88.

Before his long run on “The Doctors” Pritchett appeared in the CBS soaps “As the World Turns” and “Guiding Light.” He also appeared on Broadway, with roles in “King Lear,” “Two for the Seesaw” and other productions.
