What Are the Odds: Actor Named Hephner Gets Lead in Drama Pilot Set in 1963 at Chicago’s Playboy Club

The NBC drama pilot "Playboy" has tapped Jeff Hephner in the lead role, reports Deadline.com.

The project, from 20th TV, Imagine TV and writer-executive producer Chad Hodge, is set in 1963 at Chicago’s Playboy Club, the story says. The founder of Playboy is Hugh Hefner.

Hephner, who has appeared in a recurring role in The CW’s "Hellcats," beat out better known actors for the role, the story says.

We’d also imagine that he was the only Hefner sound-alike up for the role.

Hephner will play Nick Dalton, an attorney but also a Keyholder at the exclusive club who has ties to the mob, the story notes.
