A director of “Harry Potter” films has signed a deal to develop three projects for CBS through CBS Television Studios and his 1492 Pictures production company, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Chris Columbus, who directed “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” and “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” will direct and executive produce one of the projects if it makes it to the pilot stage, the story says. Such a project would mark his TV directing debut.

The deal comes after a development season that featured a number of high-profile film directors turning their talents to TV, with Jonathan Demme directing "A Gifted Man" and James Mangold directing "The 2-2," the story notes.
