Killing of MTV Exec May Be Linked to String of Shotgun Robberies

Authorities investigating the shooting death of MTV executive Gabriel Aron Ben-Meir in Los Angeles are exploring the possibility that the killing is related to a string of shotgun robberies and another homicide in recent weeks, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Ben-Meir, 30, was shot early Sunday morning outside his apartment in the city’s mid-Wilshire area, apparently with a shotgun–a shooting that authorities have described as “execution-style.” He was a music coordinator for MTV, and worked on “Punk’d,” “Top Pop Group” and other shows.

The LAPD revealed that the suspect in the shotgun robberies had struck at least eight times in the past two weeks in the Mid-City, Southwest L.A. and Wilshire areas, robbing businesses and people on the street. Authorities believe the same suspect is responsible for a killing about a week ago, the story says.

Ben-Meir was just a few steps from his front door when he was killed at about 1 a.m. Sunday. The police did not say whether he was robbed.

In an email, Ben-Meir’s sister Alexis said: "We are all in terrible shock and would appreciate anyone with any information regarding his final hours to come forward.”
