Multiple Emmy Winner Says Religion and Politics Have Hurt Her Career

An actress who has thrived in sitcoms and has a string of Emmy nominations–along with two Emmys–says her Christian views and conservative beliefs have hurt her career, according to TVSquad.

Patricia Heaton, who stars in ABC’s “The Middle,” told the publication that she follows her religious tenets in every aspect of her life, but that those views have cost her parts.

"My feeling is all these things come from God and as long as I know I’m staying in line with Him, I don’t have to worry if there is backlash,” she said. “God will open any doors he wants to open, and if He closes doors that’s fine too."

Referring to her work with husband David Hunt, a director, Heaton said, "We know for a fact there are some people who have said they wouldn’t want to work with us because of our politics."

Heaton and Hunt have created a new show called "Versailles," a Web comedy that’s airing on MyDamnChannel.com.

Heaton was nominated for Emmys seven years in a row, from 1999-2005, for lead actress in “Everybody Loves Raymond,” winning the award in 2000 and 2001.

  1. Since when is a boob job “staying in line with Him”?
    Another ‘conservative’ hypocrite.

  2. Well spoken by another Liberal hypocrite.
