Now that ABC has decided not to bring back "Brothers & Sisters," the showrunner for that series, David Marshall Grant, has signed on as an executive producer on NBC’s midseason drama pickup "Smash," reports Deadline.com.
Grant will assist the show’s creator, Theresa Rebeck, whose background is in theater and film.
"Smash" was given a midseason slot by NBC, with the idea of pairing the Broadway musical drama with the network’s new hit reality show "The Voice." Now NBC appears to be further shoring up that combination.
Grant will be exec producer, along with Rebeck, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey, as well as Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. The latter two have produced TV musicals, including "Gypsy," "Annie" and "The Music Man."
