NBC Will Make Viewers Wait for ‘The Voice’

It’s a near certainty that NBC will announce at next week’s upfront that "The Voice" will be back, but don’t expect to see it until midseason, reports the Los Angeles Times.

The music competition series has been NBC’s most successful unscripted show launch since "The Biggest Loser." However, the current season will have its finale on June 28, and a new season will be held for a winter bow just like Fox’s "American Idol."

NBC didn’t comment on the story. The newspaper pointed out that one of the benefits of waiting until January 2012 will mean that "The Voice" can avoid being on the air at the same time as the launch of Simon Cowell’s talent competition show, Fox’s "The X Factor."
