In a first since its debut, a medieval fantasy series on HBO saw a dip in its ratings for Sunday’s episode, Entertainment Weekly reported in its Inside TV blog.

"Game of Thrones" drew 2.4 million viewers, according to the story. That number was down from 2.6 million the previous week.

The decline may have been because of competition on broadcast, with a lot of viewers tuning in that night for ABC’s “Billboard Music Awards” and NBC airing the season finale of “Celebrity Apprentice” the same night.

  1. What were the DVR numbers? What about second showings? That is how you an tell if it was competition or people are giving up on the show. HBO repeats each episode a number of times and it means you can choose a network show and watch the HBO show later.
