Telemundo, the Spanish-language network owned by NBCUniversal, said at its upfront presentation Tuesday that it has hired former Univision talk show host Cristina Saralegui and is also creating an online sports channel, reports Advertising Age.

Telemundo Digital launched a bilingual telenovela app for the iPhone and iPad, with L’Oreal on board as a sponsor.

Saralegui, sometimes called the Oprah Winfrey of Spanish-language TV, will develop, host and executive produce a variety show for Telemundo that will start at the end of this year, the story notes. She hosted "El Show de Cristina" on Univision for two decades until the network canceled the talk show last year.

Telemundo also announced four new telenovelas, including one called "A Maid in Manhattan," about a single mother working in a high-end New York hotel who falls in love with a wealthy politician, the piece adds.
