Thursday Ratings: Fox Racks Up Another Easy Win as ‘Idol’ Juggernaut Rolls On

CBS, ABC and NBC all aired season finales Thursday night, but when the ratings dust settled it was just another routine win for “American Idol” and Fox, TVbytheNumbers.com reported.

Fox won the night by a wide margin in the 18-49 demo, averaging a 4.7 rating to CBS’s 2.8, ABC’s 2.5 and NBC’s 2.4. It was closer in total viewers, where Fox averaged 15.6 million to 12.5 million for CBS, 7.5 million for ABC and 4.7 million for NBC.

At 8 p.m. "Idol" had a 6.2 in the 18-49 demo, over CBS’s season finales of "The Big Bang Theory" (3.5) and "Rules of Engagement" (2.5). ABC’s spring finale of "Wipeout" logged a 1.7.

At 9 p.m. the one-hour season finale of NBC’s "The Office" netted a 3.8 in the 18-49 demo, while ABC’s season finale of "Grey’s Anatomy" hit a 3.4. Fox’s season finale of "Bones" was close behind with a 3.2. The first hour of CBS’s two-hour season finale of "The Mentalist" trailed with a 2.4 in the 18-49 demo.

The 10 p.m. hour saw the second half of "The Mentalist" rising to a 3.0 in the 18-49 demo. ABC’s "Private Practice" season finale reached a 2.5. A double run of NBC’s "Parks & Recreation" saw a regular episode at 10 bring home a 2.4 average while the season finale at 10:30 settled for a 2.0.
