A former “Survivor” champion whose prize money from the reality show led to years of legal trouble is back behind bars, TMZ.com reported.

Richard Hatch, who won $1 million on the original installment of the CBS reality competition franchise, lost all his appeals on tax evasion charges and was sent to prison to serve a nine-month sentence, according to the report.

TMZ reported that Hatch is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. He checked in April 29 and will be released on Dec. 12, 2011, if things remain as they stand now.

Hatch was found guilty of not paying taxes on the million-dollar prize he collected from "Survivor."

More recently, Hatch has also been a competitor on NBC’s "Celebrity Apprentice." In the past few weeks he made an unsuccessful public plea for money to try to fight his case.
