The Arnold Schwarzenegger scandal is good news for one segment of the television business, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Covering the scandal last week helped improve ratings for entertainment news shows, the publication reported.
Syndicated programs such as "Entertainment Tonight" got a lift from the news that the former California governor had fathered a child out of wedlock while married to Maria Shriver. The program averaged 5.6 million total viewers and a 3.9 household rating, the story says. That’s a 5% increase from the previous week.
"Inside Edition" improved 7%, with 4.3 million viewers and a 3.0 household rating, while "Extra" also saw a 7% bump with 2.2 million viewers and a 1.6 rating, the story notes.
