The broadcasting unit of Tribune Co. has a new chief executive, effective immediately, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The bankrupt media company tapped Nils Larsen to lead the division, the story reports. Larsen has served as Tribune Broadcasting’s chairman since October and is the chief investment officer of Tribune Co., which also owns the Los Angeles Times and other newspapers.

Larsen will handle oversight of the broadcasting unit’s 23 TV stations and its WGN America cable network and WGN Radio. He will take on the duties of Jerry Kersting, whose role as president of the unit has been eliminated.
