A CBS comedy project from “Saturday Night Live” alum Rob Schneider is reportedly in strong consideration as a midseason pickup, and its chances may be even better now that comedian Cheech Marin has joined the cast, reports Deadline.com.
Marin is well-known to TV audiences from “Nash Bridges,” “Judging Amy” and other roles, but first rose to fame in the 1960s as half of the counterculture comedy duo Cheech & Chong.
Schneider’s untitled comedy recently received a pilot order as well as an order for several backup scripts. Marin is slated to play Schneider’s father-in-law Fernando, a role that was originally played by "Ugly Betty" actor Tony Plana, the piece notes.
The show is about a man who marries into a Mexican-American family.
