With just three weeks to go before “Criminal Minds” is scheduled to start production for Season 7, actor Thomas Gibson has yet to be signed to a new contract.

Joe Mantegna, one of the show’s co-stars, said he’s confident that Gibson will reach an agreement and return to the show, reports TVLine.com.

Asked whether Gibson’s contract talks will be finished in time for the start of production, Mantegna said, “I feel confident about it … that they’ll work it out. It’ll all be what it’ll be."

As previously reported, talks between Gibson and CBS had stalled, creating a dilemma for the show’s writers since his character, Supervisory Special Agent Aaron Hotchner, has been closely tied to the show’s plots.

The writers have already reconvened to start mapping out plots for the season, the story notes.
