Date Set for ‘All My Children’ Finale, With Replacement Show Ready to Take Over Time Slot

ABC has announced the date when the long-running soap opera “All My Children” will air its final episode, ending its more than 41 years on the network, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The finale is set for Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, the story says. The show premiered on Jan. 5, 1970.

In a statement, ABC said, "The final episodes will celebrate the stories of the families that fans have grown to know and love over the years."

ABC Daytime’s new show "The Chew" will debut Monday, Sept. 26, in "AMC’s" former 1 p.m. time slot.
