"Glenn Beck is planning to charge his fans a monthly subscription for his daily talk show online starting this summer, as he makes the move from being a Fox News host to the owner of his own Internet network," writes Brian Stelter in The New York Times..

In doing so, Beck is adapting a model akin to HBO or Netflix, in which subscribers pay a monthly fee for the ability to view content, the story says. Beck said he plans to charge $5 to $10, and noted, "“I think we might be a little early."

Along with his own two-hour afternoon daily show, Beck plans to present a variety of scripted and unscripted programs for his subscribers to view, the story notes. Called "Glenn Beck," the two-hour online show will debut Sept. 12 at 5 p.m. ET, the same time as his current Fox News show, which doesn’t violate his exit agreement with the cable network because it’s not broadcast on television. The program will also be available for on-demand viewing, the story adds.

The network, called GBTV, isn’t a news channel, the piece points out. “If you’re a fan of Jon Stewart, you’re going to find something on GBTV that you’re going to enjoy,” Beck said. “If you’re a fan of ‘24,’ you’re going to find something on GBTV that you’re going to enjoy.”
