NBC Notches Dominant Tuesday Ratings Win on Strength of Talent Competitions

The combination of "America’s Got Talent" and "The Voice" gave NBC a dominant ratings victory Tuesday night, TVbytheNumbers.com reported.

NBC finished the night with a 3.9 average rating in adults 18-49, more than twice its closest competition. ABC was next with a 1.6 average, followed by Fox (1.4), Univision (1.3) and CBS (1.1). In total viewers, NBC led the way with an average of 11.9 million to 7.6 million for CBS, 5.8 million for ABC, 3.3 million for Fox and 3.2 million for Univision.

At 8 p.m. "America’s Got Talent" kicked off the night with a 3.2 average rating in the 18-49 demographic, better than Fox’s "MasterChef" with a 1.8 and ABC’s "Wipeout" with a 1.7.

"The Voice" took off at 9 p.m., with the two-hour program averaging a 4.3 in the 18-49 demo. ABC’s premiere of "101 Ways to Leave A Game Show" netted a 1.9 in the same demo for the 9 p.m. hour.

At 10 p.m. ABC’s premiere of "Combat Hospital" managed just a 1.2 in the 18-49 demographic.
