Poor branding is all over. Too bad we see the same cliche’ branding. Seems that too many are using ‘network templates’ for graphics, same old slogans ad nauseam. Yes, this is also with ownerships being switched. Seems that originality is not a premium anymore. From logos, to slogans, to graphic packages, and even same actors in bad spots, doing promos… from video clip art…. it’s all the same… bad bad bad.
I understand WNWO 49 (NBC24 Toledo) is making a transition in to HD and a new logo. I hope they are going to do it right…. originality is key. This is from logo to reporters, slogan to anchor desk and even graphics ACTUALLY being in HD (unlike WTOL11, who upscales SD graphics to HD).
WNWO, please treat your viewers right, the first try… and the ratings could follow quickly… and you will become a player once again.
Don’t get caught in the “cliche’ trap” as most of the stations in the US are.
