Has Paris Hilton Lost Her Mojo?

It looks as though the public’s fascination with Paris Hilton is over, as evidenced by the socialite’s ratings for her latest television show, Oxygen’s "The World According to Paris," reports our friend Joe Adalian at New York Magazine’s Vulture blog.

"The World According to Paris" attracted just 409,000 viewers in its debut Wednesday night, meaning the show failed to place in the top 100 basic-cable broadcasts for the night, the story notes. A repeat of "Everybody Hates Chris" on Nick at Nite drew more viewers than Hilton’s new program, the article points out.

Over at Examiner.com Matt Carter writes, "Even with nearly three-quarters of these [409,000] eyeballs coming within the adults 18-49 demographic, this is certainly not the start that the cable network was likely hoping for. So what was the problem? It may have to do with everything from Hilton’s choice of network (as her aunts do quite well over on Bravo for ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly HIlls’) to simply the fact that the name Paris Hilton does not create as much excitement as it did several years ago."

The night’s top cable show was "Pawn Stars," which drew about 5.2 million viewers, Adalian’s article adds.

  1. Controversy sells. She is no longer controversial. She needs to make another video to get back in people’s minds.
