Three Names Surface as Contenders to Replace Regis Philbin

With Regis Philbin planning to leave the morning program "Live With Regis and Kelly" in November, three candidates have emerged to fill his shoes: "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest; Bravo host Andy Cohen; and actor Mark Consuelos, who is also married to Philbin’s co-host, Kelly Ripa, reports Business Insider.

Cohen has subbed for Philbin on the morning show and hosts Bravo’s "Watch What Happens: Live," while Consuelos has also recently filled in on the morning program.

Disney-ABC Domestic Television, which distributes the show, declined to comment.

Once a replacement for Philbin has been found, the show will be rebooted, even though its ratings have been stable. When Ripa was asked in May by David Letterman about the possibility of her husband taking the job, she replied, "I think we would kill each other.”

  1. Seacrest or Cohen would be horrible & bland.

  2. The already omnipresent Seacrest has enough to do.
    Cohen’s cute, but no.
Consuelos would be best, but Ripa seems to have already said no to that.
They need to come up with three more names. Too bad Cooper and Harris are already taken up with other projects.

  3. Seacrest is horrible, Cohen whiny and superficial. These are seriously bad choices! Don’t want to see the Mr. & Mrs. show either. Come on Gelman, grow a pair and take a risk on someone smart and interesting.

  4. Mark Consuelos is an empty suit

  5. I vote for Bryant Gumbel
