Yet Another ‘Revelation’ in the Endless Saga of Who Will Take Over as Boss on ‘The Office’

After reports that James Spader might be the new boss on NBC’s "The Office," and following news that James Gandolfini of “The Sopranos” was not interested in the role, the word today is that the boss may come from the current cast, reports TVLine.com.

Confusion has arisen over who might be replaced by whom. Kathy Bates is not returning as the CEO of Sabre, the company that bought Dunder Mifflin, so Spader could be taking over that role. But the replacement for Michael Scott, Steve Carell’s character, is likely to be a familiar face from the Scranton branch–with the frontrunners said to be Jim, Dwight and Andy.

As far as why it is taking so long for reliable news on the topic, with any number of misleading rumors along the way … well, it’s generating interest in the show, so it seems unlikely NBC or the show’s producers will make things any clearer anytime soon.
