“American Idol” executive producer Nigel Lythgoe’s newly formed production company has a slate of reality programs in development for networks including CBS, CW, E! and TruTV, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Among the heavyweights lined up for projects from Nigel Lythgoe Productions: rocker Alice Cooper and reality mainstay Kim Kardashian, along with Robin Antin, founder of the Pussycat Dolls; and sex expert Dr. Laura Berman.
Lythgoe also has in the hopper previously announced projects “Secret Fortune,” a CBS game show with Donny Osmond hosting; and “We Are Family,” a singing competition for CW.
The new company, a partnership with “American Idol’s” 19 Entertainment, succeeds Lythgoe’s Big Red 2 Entertainment. Joining Lythgoe in the venture are Kary McHoul and George David Monas.
Commenting on the new production company, Lythgoe said: “Audiences want to feel emotionally invested in what they are watching in the purest sense, and NLP will cater to that desire.”
