One of the biggest pop music stars today has dropped a hint that she may soon become the latest in an impressive line of singers to perform the James Bond theme in the 007 film series.

Adele, a chart-topping female singer in America and England, dropped the hint during an appearance on the British TV talk show "The Jonathan Ross Show," reports New York magazine.

While trying to keep the secret, Adele told Ross, "I’m going back in the studio in November, fingers crossed. … This is actually a theme, what I’ve got to do. Wow, I’m really giving something away. … It’s one song." When Ross hummed the 007 theme, Adele laughed and cautioned, "Don’t say James Bond."

Adele would be following in the footsteps of many top musical performers, including Paul McCartney, Carly Simon, Shirley Bassey, Sheena Easton, Nancy Sinatra, Madonna and Duran Duran.
