The recipients of the 34th Annual Kennedy Center Honors have been unveiled, and the list of honorees this year consists of Oscar winner Meryl Streep, Broadway great Barbara Cook, pop singer Neil Diamond, cellist Yo-Yo Ma and jazz musician Sonny Rollins, reports Deadline.com.

The awards will be presented Dec. 4, and CBS will broadcast the event Dec. 7. The winners will receive tributes from other performers.

For Streep, the timing is excellent as her latest movie, "The Iron Lady," will be released the following week on Dec. 16. Streep, who portrays British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the film, is among the early favorites to receive another Oscar nomination as best actress.
