Simon Cowell has his sights set on branching out into a new TV genre after one of his shows got beat by another show in Australia, The Sun reports.
The talent competition guru plans to move into cooking shows, after “MasterChef Australia” got the better of Cowell’s “Australia’s Got Talent.” Cowell is looking at launching an international format that will beat “MasterChef” at its own game.
Cowell’s plan it to invite the biggest names in cooking for the show and then to franchise the program around the world. According to a source at Cowell’s company, Syco, Cowell is “a big fan of home cooking and likes the idea of offering the opportunity of a lifetime to someone with a passion for food. He’s been thinking of branching out from music and variety shows for a while."
The man behind "MasterChef," meanwhile, is also branching out. As previously reported, Gordon Ramsay’s lastest project is "Hotel Hell," which targets the hotel and motel industry.
