In a first for a live Fox reality show, the network is making “The X Factor” available on VOD through major cable operators Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications, Multichannel News reports.
The VOD launch started Sept. 22, after the show’s premiere. Full episodes will be available one day after they air on the broadcast network, for a period of three days.
Short-form content from the TV show is also being offered, on VOD, online and through the iPad, the story says.
Said Jamia Bigalow, senior vice president, distribution marketing, Fox Networks: “The marketing support our MVPD partners brought to the table to promote ‘The X Factor’ was overwhelming. Watching ‘The X Factor’ on VOD is a unique experience, and we look forward to working with our distribution partners on more initiatives like this in the future.”
The story adds: “MSO marketing support encompasses cross-channel spots; presence in the top-picks listings and on VOD barker channels; direct-mail messaging; consumer emails; Facebook promos; editorial support; and prominent placement on each provider’s Web TV portal, plus Web banner promos.”
