The make of the BlackBerry mobile device said today it is working round-the-clock to repair an outage that has hit the devices services worldwide, Reuters reports.

Research in Motion did not say when it expects services to be restored.

The company said the outage was caused by a core router switch that malfunctioned, with backup system also failing. The failures led to a severe backlog of messages, the story reports. It is taking some time to deliver those messages and clear the system.

The company noted that it did not find evidence that the system was hacked or breached.
