A young Disney star has obtained a restraining order against a 46-year-old man who allegedly planned to kill her, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Selena Gomez obtained the order against Thomas Brodnicki, who reportedly has a history of stalking and mental illness. Brodnicki was ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Gomez and from her parents and an assistant, the report says.

Gomez is quoted in court documents as saying she is afraid Brodnicki “will harm them in his attempts to see me or to harm or kill me,” the story reports.

The story adds: “Gomez, 19, star of TV’s ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ and girlfriend of teen heartthrob Justin Bieber, told the court Brodnicki visited her workplace at least three times.”

Police said they were taking the threat seriously because of Brodnicki’s history. Brodnicki reportedly said he had conversations with God in which his plans to kill Gomez were discussed.
