A project based on a Marvel comic has been given a put pilot commitment by Fox, reports Deadline.com.

The series, based on Marvel’s "The Punisher," is from former "Criminal Minds" showrunner Ed Bernero, and marks one of two high-profile sales for him, the story notes. Bernero also has a Western set up at ABC.

"The Punisher" is about a detective with the New York Police Department who moonlights as the Punisher, finding justice when the system fails, the story notes. It’s the second comic-inspired project at Fox, which also has "The Spectre" in development, based on a DC Comics superhero, the piece adds.
