Come On, You Know You Can’t Get Enough of the Undead: Major Broadcast Network Has Zombie Show in the Works

Zombies are living it up on TV, with “The Walking Dead” racking up record ratings for AMC, and now one of the broadcast networks wants a piece of the action.

Fox is the most recent network to take on a project about the undead, with the network and Sony Pictures Television developing a comedy based on the popular film "Zombieland," reports Joe Adalian in New York magazine’s Vulture blog.

The project may be placed in development for the 2012-13 television season, the story notes.

"Zombieland" producer and New York magazine columnist Gavin Polone said the original plan was to make "Zombieland" as a television show, and CBS did order a pilot script for the concept in 2005, according to the article. Syfy was interested but the financials didn’t work out, the piece adds.

While there was some work on a sequel to the film, Polone said it’s likely on hold. "If the TV show goes, then the sequel won’t happen," he added.

  1. I know I can’t get enough of the undead, but I’m having a hard time seeing Zombieland as a sequel let alone a TV series. I feel like it would just be the same things we’ve seen before. I guess it just makes me that more interested so I’ll definitely be watching whichever way they go.
