Lifetime has ordered a drama series pilot that might provide a starring role for Melanie Griffith, reports EW.com’s Inside TV blog.

Griffith is in talks to star in the project, which would mark her first TV series starring role since CBS’s "Viva Laughlin" in 2007, the article points out.

The network has ordered "American Housewife" from Griffith’s husband, Antonio Banderas, and "Band of Brothers" writer Erik Jendersen, the story says. The project, from Fox TV Studios, tracks a wealthy housewife who constantly talks with her "inner voice," the piece notes.
