Mixed Results for NBC Shows Premiering Against Game 7 of World Series

NBC had two key premieres Friday night, and a rainout earlier in the week in the World Series, combined with an improbable rally by the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 6, forced the network to compete with Fox’s telecast of the seventh and deciding game of baseball’s Fall Classic.

The new supernatural drama "Grimm" performed surprisingly well against Game 7 of the Series, in which the Cardinals won the championship by beating the Texas Rangers 6-2. But NBC’s "Chuck" wasn’t as lucky, reports EW.com’s Inside TV blog.

The series premiere of "Grimm" drew 6.5 million viewers and pulled a 2.1 rating with viewers 18 to 49, ranking it as Friday’s highest-rated non-sports program, the story says.

"Chuck," however, opened its fifth season with 3.4 million viewers and a 1.0 rating in 18-49, which the story says is an all-time low.

  1. I taped both Grimm and Supernatural Friday nite and watched them on Saturday morning. A game 7 in the World Series always come first. I was surprised how much I liked Grimm. Nikita & Supernatural will still be my 1st choice on Fridays. ( Supernatural is still the best written show on TV!) But my DVR is now set for Grimm. It really is a great concept for a show.
FYI-NBC when are you going to pull the plug on Prime Suspects? This show really sucks big time. You would have been better off renewing Chase.
