Even with a big star in the lead role, HBO’s new series premiered Sunday to less than stellar numbers, according to Joe Adalian in New York Magazine’s Vulture blog.

"Enlightened," starring Laura Dern, drew just 210,000 viewers, the story notes.

"While HBO can’t be happy with this news, it probably isn’t completely shocked, either," Adalian writes. "After all, its acclaimed (and now canceled) drama ‘In Treatment’, which aired on Mondays and Tuesdays, was drawing around 260,000 or so viewers last fall."
