A change is taking place behind the scenes of an ABC comedy, with the series’ creator exiting the show, Deadline.com reports.

The show is the freshman sitcom "Last Man Standing," starring Tim Allen. Creator and showrunner Jack Burditt is leaving, with veteran comedy showrunner Kevin Abbott set to take over, the story reports.

Abbott is expected to take over the show after Thanksgiving, as long as TV Land, where he’s under contract, agrees, the story says. Burditt is leaving after he suffered a family tragedy earlier this year, the story says. He returned to the show following a leave of absence, but decided he couldn’t continue, the piece adds.

Marsh McCall and Andy Gordon have been filling in as showrunners, the story notes.
