After Regis Philbin co-hosted "Live with Regis and Kelly" for the last time Friday morning, Walt Disney Chief Executive Robert Iger said ABC is in no rush to replace him, The New York Times‘ Bill Carter reports.
“It may take six months or longer. There is no deadline. If the press starts writing in six months that nothing is happening, that won’t matter. We are going to take our time," Iger said after the show, the story says.
Iger also said it might be good to give "a little space" between Philbin and his replacement. When the network picked Kelly Ripa to replace Kathie Lee Gifford, ABC "also took our time," Iger said, according to the piece. "And Kelly turned out to be a home run.”
