Fox Networks and DirecTV Come to Terms, Averting Blackout

Nov 1, 2011  •  Post A Comment

A looming blackout of Fox-owned cable networks for DirecTV subscribers has been averted, as the two companies have agreed to a new contract, reports The New York Times’ Media Decoder blog.

Both sides had been warning customers that the networks would go dark on DirecTV’s system if a new contract weren’t accepted by Nov. 1. The two companies reached an agreement about nine hours before a blackout would have gone into effect, the story notes.

The companies didn’t disclose the terms of the agreement on Monday evening, the piece adds.
