The White House Correspondents’ Association has announced the featured comedian for its 98th annual dinner, reports the Associated Press.
The prestigious gig goes to late-night television host Jimmy Kimmel, the story says. The 43-year-old comedian was picked because his “humor is sophisticated and edgy while appealing to a wide audience," according to association President Caren Bohan, the story notes.
The dinner, scheduled for April 28, 2012, traditionally joins members of the press corps with the president, the first lady and various government officials, the story notes. Kimmel said in a statement that he’s looking forward to the event and added, "I love dinner," the article says.
