NBC is developing a new single-camera comedy called “The New Neighbors,” which focuses on a Palm Springs neighborhood where a new family of puppets moves in, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The project comes from a studio that knows a thing or two about puppets — Jim Henson Studios — in association with Universal Television, the story reports.
John Hoffman is writing and executive producing. Jim Henson’s daughter Lisa Henson, CEO of Henson Company, is attached as a non-writing exec producer, the story adds.
Deadline.com’s story says the spelling of the show is “The New Nabors”, an homage to Jim Nabors.
